Per the request of his staff, three leaders of the community were chosen to participate in a brief meeting with Cherry. Virginia Thomas, Kalkaska village council president, and Downtown Development Authority member; Matt Shepherd, general manager of Alken-Ziegler, DDA member and chamber board member; and Lou Nemeth, Kalkaska County commissioner spent about an hour with Cherry in The Leader office. Taxes, jobs, education, the US-131 construction project, and the future of the region all were discussed. |
