Oil field fire drew quick response

COLDSPRINGS TWP Ð Fire fighters from four battalions responded when a fire occurred at the oil field on Twin Lakes Road, east of County Road 571, this past Friday. Within minutes fire fighters arrived from Kalkaska, Coldsprings Twp. and Mancelona stations, and suited-up. Twin Lakes Road was immediately blocked off to prevent local traffic from entering the danger zone or accessing the area of the fire. Traffic was detoured back to County Road 571 and to Starvation Lake Road.

A Coldsprings Twp. fire fighter at the scene redirecting traffic, said the smoke from the explosion that triggered the fire could be viewed as far south as Manistee Lake Road. The smoke quickly dissipated and was no longer visible because of the thick stands of pines in the area. No other details were available at press time.
