She was born on January 7, 1921 in Bay County, the daughter of the late William and Ida (Harmier) Fry.

Evelyn married Seaman S. Smith on January 7, 1945, in Bay City. They were residents of Rapid City since 1954, moving from Elk Rapids.

Evelyn loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens, cross stitching, playing bingo and playing cards with her group at the Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Rapid City Church of Christ.

Surviving Evelyn are her children, Gloria L. (Richard) Baggs, Linda L. (Lynn) Forward, Jackie L. Hoadley, S. Carl Smith and Patty G. (Mike) Green all of Rapid City; 17 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren; her siblings, Stella Brushaber and Clarence Fry both of Beaverton and Carol Grice of Midland; her sister-in-law, Estella Miller of Williamsburg.

Preceding Evelyn in death was her husband; and her siblings, Louis, Elmer, Ervin, Irene, Melvin, Marvin and Geraldine.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 19, at the Wolfe- O'Neill Funeral Home.

Jeff Badgero officiated from the Kalkaska Church of Christ. Burial was at Clearwater Township Cemetery.
