The Blazers, did their Lake Michigan Conference rival, a favor last week, by defeating Traverse City St. Francis in the second game of a doubleheader Thursday.

Kalkaska split the doubleheader with St. Francis, losing 5-0 in the opener and winning the second 2-1. That loss put St. Francis a half game behind Elk Rapids for the conference lead. John Kasza and Travis Schuba combined to hold the Gladiators to three hits in the win.

The Blazers also split a pair with East Jordan Tuesday, May 15. Again, they lost the opener, this time 8-1. But Schuba pitched a 6-4 win in the second game, with Steve Bonofiglio and Dan Tinkle leading the offense. Each had two RBI.

The two doublheader splits, made it three consecutive for Kalkaska. It also split a series with Traverse City Central the previous week.
