Charlene Schumacher



Charlene Schumacher of Kalkaska passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

ÊBorn on February 6, 1945, in Charlevoix, she was the devoted daughter of Pauline (Loomis) Arnott; the beloved wife of Larry; loved mother of Kareen Lee (Michael) Oosterhart of Kalkaska, Shawn Michael (Lisa) Schumacher of Locust Grove, VA and Jada Lynn (Jeff) Leek of Kalkaska; loved grandmother of Kendra and Jared Oosterhart and Ryan and Tyler Schumacher.Ê She was the cherished sister of Donald (Margaret) Arnott of Advance, MI Duane Arnott of East Jordan , Mich., and Glenn (Sue) Arnott of New Braunfels, TX.Ê She was preceded in death by her cherished father Charles Arnott, and brothers James and Gilbert Arnott.

Charlene graduated from East Jordan High School in 1963.Ê On November 23, 1963, she married Larry J. Schumacher also from East Jordan.ÊIn 1972 Charlene and Larry moved to Davenport, Iowa so Larry could pursue a career in chiropractic.ÊCharlene courageously helped support Larry during this time while raising two children.Ê She continued to stand by his side in a shared dream that brought chiropractic care to the community of Kalkaska in 1975.ÊThey had a third addition to their family in 1977.ÊCharlene worked by Larry's side for nearly 25 years as a chiropractic assistant at which time their youngest daughter took her position in the office so she could have time to pursue her other passions of sewing and caring for her horses.ÊCharlene was an avid sewer and has created many articles for her friends and her family. From show shirts, horse coverings and chaps to gold angels, she truly expressed herself behind her sewing machine.ÊShe touched many lives with her passion for chiropractic and her sewing, her art and passion will be missed by many.

A life celebration ceremony is planned for May 19, at 1 p.m. at the Schumacher Ranch in Kalkaska.Ê In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Charlene's family, c/o Wolf-O'Neill Funeral Home 106 S. Cherry St., Kalkaska, Mich., 49646.
