Anything more will be gravy.

Forest Area was scheduled to compete in the Bellaire Invitational on Monday, although bitterly cold temperatures and a forecast calling for a mix of rain and snow threatened to wash it out.

No amount of cold temperatures or even snow can cool down the hot Warriors.

Right now they show no signs of letting up on the gas.

Coach Ryan Meyer knew he had at least two individuals capable of qualifying for state competition this year, and they certainly haven't done anything to dispel those aspirations.

But the Warriors are showing the kind of depth that makes them a potential force in the regional race next month.

"We're doing real well right now," Meyer said. "The kids are all working hard, and trying to adjust to the up and down weather.

"Getting another trophy is nice. It's one more than we had last year, and hopefully we'll be able to add another one or two."

The Warriors flexed their muscle early and often at Johannesburg-Lewiston.

Brandon Rookus won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 44.9 seconds.

Collin Park took first place in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet 8 inches.

Justin Gordon soared to a first place in the pole vault at 11 feet 6 inches for a personal best performance.

Matt Park, Carl Snyder, Nathan Snyder and Luke Rookus finished second in the 3200 relay a time of 9:23.5.

Jeff Hulwick placed second in the discus with a throw of 98 feet 4 inches.

Also placing second was the 800-meter relay team of Galea, Ryan Burke, Bob Hatfield and Justin Gordon in a time of 1:40.5.

John Bird, Brandon Rookus, Hatfield and Gordon combined for a second place in the 400-meter relay with a time of 48.7 seconds.

Luke Rookus came in second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.8. The 1600-meter relay team of Brandon Rookus, Matt Park, Collin Park and Luke Rookus was second in 3:51.8.

Max Galea took a third place in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 20.3 seconds. Chris Martin finished third in the pole vault at 9 feet.

Galea was third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.5 seconds.

He got only one jump because of an injury, but it was good enough to earn Mitchell Core a third place medal at 5 foot.

Brandon Rookus had a fourth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.2 seconds. Luke Rookus was fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:20.

Matt Park was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.1 seconds. Carl Snyder took fourth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:42.

Bird took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet 9 inches.

Burke picked up a sixth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.4 seconds.

"The guys are doing a fantastic job," Meyer said.

Forest Area girls picked up one medal, for fourth place in the 1600-meter relay run by Megan Adams, Megan Monks, Megan Dickinson and Katie Browne with a time of 5:02.

Next for the Warriors after Monday's meet in Bellaire is one at Mancelona on Thursday.
