Taylor throws two no-hitters for Blazers



KALKASKA - Marissa Taylor threw two no-hitters for the Kalkaska softball team, for a pair of the Blazers' six wins this season.

Taylor threw a no-hitter against Grayling April 18 (20-3), and against Houghton Lake the following doubleheader (4-2).

The Blazers swept Grayling in the doubleheader, along with Houghton Lake. They did drop their first game of the season in the Kingsley tournament, losing 3-2 to North Muskeon. Kalkaska rebounded in the second game, against Forest Area. Kara Ponstein pitched a one-hitter to lead the Blazers in a 13-1 win.

For the first time in over two years though, they lost a league game. The Blazers hosted Elk Rapids and lost the opener 4-2. They cameback in the second game, when Ponstein pitched a two-hitter for an 8-0 win.
