Stygian Shore voted best rock band



KALKASKA - On Wednesday night, April 25, there was a Battle of the Bands featuring local rock groups.

Rock-loving teens from throughout the county came to vote on the best band, congregating in the Trout Entertainment Tent at the Kalkaska Fairgrounds, and socializing outside, where the music could still be heard. Five bands made it to the finals which were held Friday night, to vie for prizes of $125, $75 and $50.

The winning band was Stygian Shore. Runners-up were Lumberjack Legend and Kama Kari Black. The Battle was sponsored by the NTF board, through a contract with Mr. Chainsaw Productions, led by Mike Dombrowski and Chaise Russell.

The bands that competed were: Kama Kari Black, One in the Chamber Three in the Head, The Stygian Shore, Lumberjack Legends, Anchors for Reality, Crime Disease and Hushmoney. The next Battle of the Bands sponsored by Mr. Chainsaw Productions is Saturday, May 5, at the Kalkaska Civic Center at 6 p.m.
