Chela, 10, traveled with the Breakers to compete March 9-11. By meeting a minimum time, she advanced to the state finals in several events, including the 50-yard butterfly. Chela broke a team record, completing the butterfly in 30.15 seconds, good for the state title. She also won the 100-yard butterfly state title.

Chela went on to break three more Breakers records - 100-yard backstroke, 1:09.30, 3rd in the state; 50-yard backstroke, 31.99, 3rd in the state; 100-yard butterfly, 1:08.27, 1st in the state.

Chela's performances in the 50- and 100-butterfly were the best for any boy or girl, 10-orunder. Last year, she placed 16th in the 50-butterfly, at a national event in Indianapolis.
