Alice Agnes Donathan was born September 6, 1911, the 10th child of the late Fredrick and Adaline Bodrie, in Pinconning.

Alice married Alva Paul Donathan of Fife Lake, April 22, 1930, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in River Rouge. She is survived by their three children, Donna M. (Eugene) Abramczyk of Fife Lake, Beverly A. (James) Jurecki of Grosse Ile and James (Judith) Donathan of Riverview; sisters, Nelda Laginess of Riverview, Marcella Hatley; 18 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Alva Donathan; her parents; brothers, James, Hirum, George, Edward, Frank, Samuel, Floyd, Wallace; and sisters, Lucy, Mable, Marie and Madonna. Alice and Alva lived their early married years between River Rouge and the cabin in Fife Lake. They returned to River Rouge when Alva was inducted into World War II service as a ship builder and Alice became one of the many ÒRosieÓ the riveters working on airplanes. After the war Alice became a full time wife, mother and homemaker whose door was always open be it for a meal or bed with no time limit on the stay and many stayed for an unlimited time.

In later years Alice worked for the River Rouge School System as a custodian at the Ann Visger Elementary School. Alice retired in September 1971, and returned to the home Alva built for her, one-half mile down the road from the log cabin on Donathan Road where they spend their early years and vacations.

After AlvÕs death Alice devoted her life to her family that kept growing and to the church she loved, St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Fife Lake. She was a long time member of the choir and also the Altar Society where she held the many offices. Alice was also a representative of the Madonna Plan to the Diocese of Gaylord. She was always been active in her church and the job was never too big or too small. Her later years were spent with her daughter, Donna and her husband Gene, and granddaughter Crystal.

Alice passed away surrounded by her family in the home she loved on Monday, March 19, 2007. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, March 23 at St. Aloysius Church.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be directed to St. Aloysius Church in Fife Lake or Munson Hospice.
