Obituaries PUBLISHED: He was born in Fennville, March 6, 1927, to Ben & Ruth ÒAlmaÓ (Pitman) DePeel. He was a life-long resident of Kalkaska County. Don was a WWII veteran, serving his country in a Tank Battalion in Germany. On December 24, 1949, in Lansing, he married Katherine Bluer. Don enjoyed working with his hands. He was a self-employed builder for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, picking morel mushrooms and spending time with his family. Surviving besides his loving and devoted wife Kay are their six children, Dawn (Allen) Triplett of Kalkaska, Donna (John) Nyboer of Munising, Dale (Paula) DePeel of Rochester, MN, Daryl DePeel of McPherson, Kansas, Duke (Dawn) DePeel of South Boardman, and Susan (John) Folsom of Atlanta; 16 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; his sisters, Ruth (Jess) Moore of Bellaire and Elsie Merkle of Cadillac; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26 at the Kalkaska Church of Christ with Jeff Badgero officiating. Don will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska. Military honors will be provided by the Kalkaska VFW Post 8684 and the Sherwood Beebe Post 480 of the American Legion. Memorials may be given in behalf of Don to the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center, LTC, 419 S. Coral St., Kalkaska, Mich., 49646. Arrangements were made by Wolfe-OÕNeill Funeral Home. |
