Gen was born April 5, 1920, in St. Clair Shores to Fredrick L. and Freda (Thomas) Forton. In January 1944, Gen married the late William Harwood in the Detroit area.

Gen enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cleaning, Trivial Pursuit, casino, and Bingo, and especially gardening. Above all, Gen loved her family, who will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her children: Margaret (Michael) Birgy of Fife Lake, William F. (Diana) Harwood of Sterling Heights, Bonnie (David) Gonyer of Fife Lake, and Sheree (Mark) Stein of Fife Lake. 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Gen was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Barbara Mryvold, grand daughters, Rebecca Gonyer and Melissa Birgy.

A visitation was held Sunday, March 25 at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral was held Monday, March 26, also at the funeral home, officiated by Terry Birgy. Memorial contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice.
