EZON and the Golden Scimitar is the result of Del looking at a Lord of the Rings trivia game his two boys were playing when they were teens. ÒThey asked me to read a few questions,Ó Del said. ÒI asked them, ÔWho wrote this junk?ÕÓ

He started writing. His family laughed at him. ÒThe more we laughed at him, the more he wrote,Ó DelÕs wife of 27 years, Jean said.

Del said it took between 600 and 700 hours to write the book. ÒI sat out on the patio and wrote in the summer time,Ó he said. ÒWhenever someone would be looking for me, my family would say, ÔOh, heÕs working on that dumb book.ÕÓ

I printed out the whole manuscript for the few who were interested. I found that publishers will print anything. I didnÕt have to pay to have my book published.

ÒWith Publish America, it started with one person, then it went through four editors and finally to the chief editor. ÒWhen I told my wife they wanted to publish my book, she said, ÔOh, get out of here.ÕÓ

ÒI told Jean that everyone should write one book and then never do it again,Ó he said. ÒThe most difficult part was putting it together Ñ tieing everything together.Ó

ÒI encouraged him,Ó Jean said. ÒIÕm involved in so much. It gave him something to do.Ó

The couple have to sons, Lance, 22 and Max, 19.

Del and Jean, a Saginaw native, now live in Coleman, Mich. After graduating from high school, he spent three years at Central Michigan University. He spent 14 years in railroad communication and for the past 20 years has done telephone and computer networking for ComTec.

EZON and the Golden Scimitar will be available on Amazon.com and at Barnes and Noble and can be ordered via PublishAmerica.com, now. Del said he always read books that were historical in nature.

ÒThe book has a lot of historical facts, a little bit of romance and not much about religion,Ó he said. ÒIt takes place in 13th century medieval period. It is the journey of a band of four trying to get back to Mecca.Ó

Del said the biggest challenge was tieing all of the characters together. ÒThere are a ton of characters and I wanted the reader to get to know them,Ó he said. ÒSome have powers and they travel to another planet, Htrae (Earth, spelled backward).Ó

His follow-up book is complete but not yet submitted to his publisher, Publish America.

Del said his experience in publishing a book was interesting. ÒI went online and typed in Ôpublisher,ÕÓ he said. ÒI sent out a brief description to some publishers,Ó he said.
