Shirley is survived by her husband, Rodney; her children, Howard Hicks of Grand Rapids, Ted (Verna) Hicks of Burns, OK, Helen (Gary) Fosmore of Fife Lake, Terry (Daniel) Thomas of Kalkaska and Gordon (Theresa) Hicks of Erwin, NC; her daughter-in-law Margie Smith of NC; her 16 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren; and her sister, Idella Jones of Mich.

Shirley was born on August 22, 1936, in Royal Oak, the daughter of the late Gorden and Helen (Kidney) Culberson. She married Rodney D. Warnke on February 2, 1968 in Ferndale. Together they moved to Kalkaska in 1972 from Brethren.

Shirley enjoyed playing bingo and watching wildlife.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 10 at the Kalkaska Church of Christ with Dan Johnson officiating.
