KALKASKA Ñ On Sunday, Feb. 18, the roof of the warehouse for Kalkaska Floor Covering on Cedar Street in Kalkaska collapsed. According to Owner Toby Davis, the store will remain open for business.

ÒWeÕll operate out of this building as best as we can,Ó Davis said from his office in the store next to the warehouse. ÒThe warehouse also was a showroom and had inventory in it.Ó

ÒItÕs really sad,Ó Gary Johnson, who was driving a front-end-loader during demolition, said. ÒTheyÕve been in the business for a long time.Ó Davis said when the roof collapsed on Sunday, no one was there. ÒIt fell because of the snow and apparently a roof that would not hold it,Ó Davis said.

Davis added that he has owned the business for 10 years and that it has been in existence since 1978. He said he currently has two employees.
