Although the Blazers received wins from Abram Lantzer (119), Damien Donathan (125), Dean Amos (130), Jesse Moggo (135), Eric Nixon (171) and Matt Pare (285), it was not enough to stave off the Cheboygan push.

Lantzer pinned his opponent in 28 seconds and Nixon pinned his opponent in 58 seconds. The overall match was an intense affair, filled with gritty and close spars (Amos claimed his win on points, 6-5, in the extra fourth round), but Cheboygan walked away with the win, 39-35. The loss sent Kalkaska out of the district race in the first round, despite their winning the Lake Michigan Conference title. Grayling went on to win the districts.

On Saturday, the wrestlers were off to Standish the individual districts. Every senior on the team qualified to move on to the regionals, including Lantzer, Donathan, Amos, Pare, Moggo, Chalker. Additionally, Luke Gillespie (112) shone brightly, nabbing a first place finish and a spot in the regionals. At the end, Lantzer, after going undefeated on the day, finished first in his weight class. Donathan finished fourth after going 3-2 on the day, while Amos finished third with a 3-1 record.
