Woman dies in snowmobile accident



KALKASKA - Michelle Lynn Brinckley, 44, of Fife Lake died last Friday, as the result of a snowmobile accident, according to the Kalkaska County Sheriff Office.

Kalkaska County central dispatch received the call reporting the crash at 3:17 p.m. Friday, KSO reported.

The crash happened on the Department of Natural Resources snowmobile trail 55, north of South River Road in Kalkaska Township, according to the KSO release.

The preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that the victim was driving a 2005 Arctic Cat snowmobile southbound on DNR trail 55, when the snowmobile left the trail and struck a tree, resulting in Brinckley's death, according to KSO.Ê

Speed appears to be a factor in the accident, according to Kalkaska County Sheriff, Bill Artress.

Brinckley was reportedly pronounced dead at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.Ê

The KSO accident investigation team continues to investigate the crash, according to Kalkaska County Sheriff Bill Artress.

Kalkaska Township station 7 Fire and Rescue and Kalkaska EMS assisted at the scene, according to KSO.
