Possinger arrested for alleged assault



KALKASKA - Denise Michelle Possinger, 34, of Kalkaska, was arrested early Sunday morning and charged on Monday, for two counts of alleged felonious assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, according to the Kalkaska County Sheriff Office and court.

According to KSO, deputies and detectives are investigating the alleged assault that occurred at the Granada Inn, in Kalkaska.

The KSO release stated that central dispatch received a call at 12:39 a.m. from the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. KMHC reported that they had had a white male, 44, from Kalkaska, come in with stab wounds, according to KSO.

Kalkaska EMS transported the victim from KMHC to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, where he received emergency medical surgery to treat the stab wound(s), according to the release. As of Sunday, the victim's condition reportedly was listed as stable.

Possinger was formally arraigned on Monday and reportedly pled not guilty. According to court officials, Possinger's pretrial will be Feb. 13 and her preliminary hearing will be Feb. 25. Possinger reportedly will have a court appointed lawyer.

Possinger's bond is $100,000 cash/surety.

The status of the case remains open, as an investigation by detectives from KSO continues.
