Obituaries PUBLISHED: Esther was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Anna Marie (Larry) Bellgraph; son-in-law, David LaMay; four grandchildren, Vicki Barnes, Lori (Joe) Krupa, Corinne Birchmeier (Ken Lillieberg) and Andrew LaMay; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Sue Barnes (Ryan Nash), Sean David Long and Brett Alan Birchmeier; sisters, Lucille Thomas and Pearl (Darwin) Weaver; sister-in-law, Marie Hall; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Edith (Sieting) Hall; husband, Andrew H. Lossing; daughter, Mary Lou LaMay; and four brothers, Claude, Robert, Seymour and Clifford. Esther was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Missaukee County, Mich. At the age of 10 the family moved to Kalkaska County. She married Andrew H. Lossing on Nov. 23, 1938, in South Mills, N.C. To this union were born Anna Marie Lossing (Barnes) Bellgraph and Mary Lou Lossing LaMay. Her husband was killed in an industrial accident on May 11, 1944. She returned to Kalkaska, Mich., and remained until 1962. She resided in Arizona until 1969. Esther was employed in Lansing, Mich., retiring in 1983 after 20 years in the nursing profession. She returned to her home town of Kalkaska, remaining there until 1998, when she moved to Clio, Mich., to care for her daughter, Mary Lou. After the death of Mary Lou in 2000, she moved to Wyoming, Mich., to be near her daughter, Ann. Throughout her long life Esther was active in church, holding various offices, and was a member of New Covenant Free Methodist Church in Clio, Mich. She volunteered with American Red Cross, Historical Society, Hospital Auxiliary, as a Clinic Receptionist and worked part-time at various jobs until nearly 80 years of age, caring for the ill, delivering meals to shut-ins and the Senior Companion Program. Visitation will be on Friday, February 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wolfe-OĠNeill Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The service will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Kalkaska Church of Christ with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating and visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Staff of Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods for the care and compassion given to their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods or the Kalkaska Church of Christ. |
