According to the report, three other people from the Fife Lake/South Boardman area also were riding the sled at the time of the accident. The report stated that two of those three people sought treatment at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center and were later transported to Munson Medical Center by Kalkaska EMS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

According to KSO, the preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that there were four young children on one sled going down the hill at the Springfield Township Park. The report said the sled that the four children were riding on went off the main trail on the hill over a Òbuilt up barrierÓ and crashed into a small clump of trees.

The KSO report stated it appears that the sled the four children were riding on at some point turned around and started going backwards down the hill, and that it is in that backwards direction on travel that the sled went into the clump of trees.

The accident remains open as detectives and deputies from KSO continue to gather information related to the accident the report said.
