Lady Warriors place first at Joburg

URGÑIn a mid-week bout that saw the Forest Area Warriors varsity volleyball team taking on the Cardinals of Joburg on Thursday, Jan. 18., the Warriors responded in affirmation, taking the match in three games, 25-12, 2512, 25-19.
Strong floor games from Chelsea Snyder (7-7 serving, eight kills, six digs), Brandy Banks (7-7 serving, 17 assists), Jessica Green (14-14 serving) and Kayla Helsel (17-18 serving, five kills) helped the Warriors win in dominating fashion.
ÒThe girls played real well, and they did a real nice job on passing,Ó said Warriors head coach Ron Stremlow.
On Saturday, the Warriors headed back to Joburg again, this time to participate in a 10 team tournament.
The Lady Warriors started out the pool play on a sour note, dropping a pair to the Eagles of Bellaire, 19-25, 24-25. Mio was next in line, and they disposed of them, 25-17, 25-21.
The Mancelona Ironmen stood in their way next, and the prompt Warriors won in convincing fashion, 25-16, 25-21. To round out pool play, the Lady Warriors took on Onaway, splitting the pair, 25-19, 17-25.
The strong showing in pool play netted the Warriors a second seed, and they took on Hillman in the semifinals round. Not to be denied, they won both games 25-18, 25-19 and earned themselves a trip to the final game against Onaway, the team they split with earlier in the day. With everything on the line, the Lady
