Obituaries PUBLISHED: James was a veteran and served our country in the Navy during the Korean War and was in the Reserves for 18 years. He married Barbara Schimpf on Sept. 29, 1977, in Saginaw. Together they moved to Kalkaska in 1991 and spent the winters in Gulf Shores, Ala. James loved God and family, butterflies, fireworks and the Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Sherwood-Beebe Post #480 and New Hope Community Church. James is survived by his beloved wife; his children, James Phillip Lange, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Pamela (Steven) Lewis of Boyne Falls, Jeffrey (Susan) Lange of Alanson; step-children, Kimberly (Mike) Sullivan of Sanger, Texas, Wendy Suppes of Saginaw and Timothy (Jill) Suppes of Bellaire; his seven grandchildren, Tory, Vanessa, Jessalyn, Devon, Noah, Carter and Cody; and one great-grandson, Bleu; his siblings, Harriett (Charles) Armstrong of Bridgeport and Bernie (Shirley) Lange of Saginaw. Preceding James in death were his parents; and two sisters, Rosemary and Lois. Life is Eternal, I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, ÒThere! SheÕs gone.Ó Gone where? Gone from my sightÑthat is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her; and just at the moment when someone at my side says, ÒThere! SheÕs gone,Ó there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, ÒThere she comes!Ó A memorial service honoring his life was held on Sunday, Jan. 14 at Wolfe-OÕNeill Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Manzer of New Hope Community Church officiating. Memorials may be given in remembrance of James to the New Hope Community Church, 5100 Bethesda Ct., Williamsburg, Mich., 49690 or the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Arrangements were made by Wolfe-OÕNeill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.ÊÊÊ |
