Cops: Fox flees on bike



KALKASKA TWP. - Sheriff Bill Artress reported that the Kalkaska County Sheriff Department is investigating the break and entering of an occupied dweling located in Kalkaska Township on Jan. 8.

According to the report, Kalkaska County Central Dispatch received a call from an elderly female who stated that someone had just broken into her home.

Reportedly, sheriffÕs deputies resonded to the residence on West Kalkaska Road in Kalkaska Township.

The subject, Darren Anthony Fox, 22, of Kalkaska, had fled the victimÕs home prior to the arrival of the sheriffÕs deputies, the report said.

The report stated that Fox fled the scene of the incident on foot and was also riding a bike that was hidden in the woods.

He was tracked through the freshly fallen snow in the woods and along the shoulder of the roads, the report said.

According to the report, Fox was caught walking along Island Lake Road approximately two miles west from the location of the B & E.

The Kalkaska Sheriff Department was assisted by officers from the Kalkaska Village Police Department, and its K-9 unit and by personnel from the Department of Natural Resources, the report stated.
